The Story
Habitat for Humanity in Sault Ste. Marie accepts donated items from the community, but coordinating pickups was a manual, time-consuming process. Donors had to call in, the team had to manually schedule everything, and figuring out the best route to hit all the pickup locations each day was a challenge on its own.
We built them a custom portal that solves both sides of the problem. On the donor side, people can go online and schedule a pickup for items they want to donate — no phone calls needed. They pick a date and time, enter their details, and they're done. It's simple and straightforward.
On the Habitat side, the team gets a dashboard where they can see all the scheduled pickups and then optimize their route so they can make all the stops in the most efficient order possible. Instead of driving back and forth across town, they get the best route laid out for them — saving time, fuel, and wear on their vehicles.
It's the kind of project that makes a real difference for a non-profit. Every hour saved on the road is an hour that can go toward their mission. The portal streamlines the entire donation pickup workflow and lets the Habitat team focus on what they do best — helping their community.
